Chemical Process Lead – Riverview, MI
We are seeking a bright, self-motivated, hands-on person of high integrity that will thrive in our growing company’s results driven environment. Overall responsibilities will include activities associated with leading a team in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products and materials, including operation of chemical process equipment and the charging and handling of associated chemicals. Specific job functions include but are not limited to:
- Providing daily direction to Production Operator/Chemist team or shift regarding manufacturing, cleaning and associated activities.
- Conducting chemical syntheses of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and their intermediates within scheduled dates or times.
- Controlling inventory of basic raw materials, consumables, and wastes within the working environment and coordinate requirements of raw materials with Materials Management.
- Maintaining related documentation in compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensuring equipment in use is adequately maintained and cleaned to support plant requirements.
- Maintaining safe work environment; following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Required skills include:
- Ability to supervise and lead process operators/chemists;
- Solid understanding of chemical processing and the handling chemicals in a manufacturing environment;
- Knowledge and experience in the pharmaceutical or chemical industries and especially with GMP regulations;
- Ability to interact effectively with reports, associates and management;
- Ability to work with solvents and other chemicals;
- Ability to achieve forklift operator certification;
- Office suite computer skills;
- Good communication skills;
- Ability to work in outdoor environments;
- Ability to work shifts, weekends and overtime as required.
Desired 4 yr degree in industrial or scientific study (engineering, chemistry, math) and corresponding manufacturing experience in a leadership role, or 5 – 10 years in chemical manufacturing, with supervisory experience.
